On Wednesday 10th September Inova Consultancy will be celebrating the achievements of South Yorkshire’s female entrepreneurs, backed by Creativesheffield. Inova provides consultancy services in the area of diversity and equal opportunities which includes running Sheffield’s highly acclaimed Female Entrepreneurship Programme.
This programme has helped over 200 women to start up or grow their business through personal and professional development, including mentoring, positive thinking, conflict management and assertiveness.
Andy Curtis, Assistant Director of Innovation at Creativesheffield, said “This is our chance to celebrate the fantastic accomplishments of Sheffield’s female entrepreneurs and recognise their importance in the development of the city. Creativesheffield and Inova Consultancy strive to support the expansion of Sheffield-based independents and maximise on the great entrepreneurial talent that Sheffield has to offer.”
Katey Felton, a very successful silversmith and business woman who designs and manufactures contemporary silverware, is one of Inova’s success stories. Commenting on her experiences while on Inova’s mentoring programmes, she said: “I enjoy meeting with like minded women, gaining confidence through the programme and learning new skills. It’s great to bounce ideas off others and I’m encouraged to step out of my comfort zone which allows me to look at myself and my business from a different perspective. I have learned a lot from the programme and I’m pleased that the hardworking women involved are going to be formally recognised for their achievements and development.”
The event will provide the chance to get together with women business owners from the region as well as to meet key players who have a common interest in promoting women entrepreneurs. Inspirational speeches will be heard from Cllr. Sylvia Anginotti, Liberal Democrat Cabinet Member for Employment and Enterprise; Julie Kenny, Managing Director of Pyronix; and Andy Curtis, Assistant Director of Innovation at Creativesheffield. All individuals who have participated in the female entrepreneurs programmes will be presented with a certificate in recognition of the valuable time and effort invested in their personal and professional development.
In addition, the first International Female Entrepreneurs Network (ORBITA) will be launched at the event. Marina Larios, Director of Inova Consultancy and President of WiTEC Europe (European Association for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology), said “The long term goal of ORBITA is to connect business women in our region with other female entrepreneurs across the globe. Inova’s key role in the network will facilitate greater learning and development between business intermediaries working to promote women entrepreneurs and will bring in best practice from other countries to Sheffield.”
This event will take place at the Millennium Gallery on Wednesday 10th September and is being held in conjunction with Creativesheffield’s Wednesday Night Live programme.
