Q: How many designers does it take to have a heated debate?
A: Two, usually. So just think what sort of discussion a few hundred will generate. That’s what we’re aiming for on 26 March when the Design Council unveils its latest research on the design industry, and we’d like you to join us for a live webcast. You’ll be part of an event with other designers, educators, design networkers and industry insiders.
Are recessions good news in disguise for design? Has the downturn forced designers to value their networks? Is on-the-job learning better than no learning at all? These are the issues we’ll be debating in classic for-and-against style. And there will be no fence-sitting – each debate ends with a vote, for the online audience as well as the one in the room.
The event and webcast mark the launch of the Design Council’s research, the most detailed survey of the size and shape of UK design available anywhere. Originally published in 2005, it has been comprehensively updated to reveal where the industry stands in 2010, how it feels about the big issues and of course how it’s weathered the recession.
We hope you can join us for the webcast hosted by Creativesheffield. Please RSVP to Alison Murphy - alison.murphy@sheffield.gov.uk
