Eliot Kennedy will perform the official Sheffield 2018 World Cup anthem at the Christmas lights switch on in Sheffield city centre this Sunday. The highly awaited performance of The World at your Feet will be the first chance for the people of Sheffield to hear the song live alongside the Sheffield 2018 film which has also been created for the bid.
Eliot, the Sheffield song-writer who has written songs for the likes of Take That, Brian Adams and the Spice Girls, was inspired by Sheffield’s 2018 World Cup Bid and the use of the Sheffield children to communicate the legacy that the tournament would leave in the city.
The song will be available for free download on Sunday from http://www.sheffield2018.co.uk and http://www.onesongfoundation.org with an optional opportunity to make a contribution to The One Song Foundation. The money raised will go into a Sheffield sports fund which will be used to support sports clubs and groups in Sheffield City Region, particularly those addressing deprivation and disadvantage.
One of Sheffield’s 2018 World Cup DVD’s will also be screened publically for the first time which features The World at Your Feet as its sound track and Sheffield Wednesday’s Darren Purse and United’s Jamie Ward will also appear live on stage to encourage the crowd to get behind the bid.
The day promises to be full of celebrity appearances and fun, so come down to Barkers Pool in Sheffield city centre at 1pm – 5.30pm, enjoy the party, back the bid and download the Sheffield 2018 charity anthem!
