Things to consider*
Rental
- A security bond equivalent to at least one month’s rent will usually be required
- Most Letting agents charge an administration fee for an application
- Minimum rental term is usually six months. Please check with letting agent before signing an agreement
- All utilities tend to be in addition to rent. These include: Council tax, electricity, gas, water rates, telephone and/or television package, television license, contents insurance
- Most landlords do not allow pets. Please check with letting agent before applying
One of the most common rental contracts is the Assured Shorthold Tenancy, which provides the tenant security of tenure for the duration of the contract and allows the landlord to re-take possession of the property after the contract expires.
Always read what a contract very carefully and seek legal advice in case of any doubt. Always make sure the rights and obligations of the tenant are clear.

Costs involved in buying a house
- Solicitor fees plus disbursements such as searches, Land registry etc
- Stamp duty
- Valuation and/or survey fee
- Mortgage administration costs,
- Removals
- Estate agents fees (if selling an existing property)
- Buildings and contents insurance
- Life and other protection insurance
