There are two universities in the city – Sheffield Hallam and the University of Sheffield – offering over 1,100 courses between them, it is no wonder that over a quarter of the population are qualified to at least first degree level. The high level of professionals in the city helps contribute to Sheffield Hallam’s status as one of the wealthiest areas in the country outside of London.
Sheffield remains synonymous with engineering and continues to manufacture a range of quality products by its highly skilled workforce. Whilst the engineering sector is still dominant, Sheffield workers are now employed in creative industries which is evidence of the city’s new skill and knowledge base.
Sheffield schools continue to produce excellent GCSE and A Level results and with specialist schools in Engineering, IT, Business and Sport, the future for the city’s skills is bright.
