The core of the Digital Campus (formerly known as e-Campus) strategy is the creation of a custom-built city centre business park for pioneering and innovative digital, ICT, wireless multi-media and software companies of all sizes. The project aims to provide a high quality urban environment, flexible buildings and state of the art modern infrastructure all in a single location.

The development is spread across three adjacent sites. The first will include a 5,000 sq m Hub Building (also known as Sheffield Digital Centre), designed to strengthen small and growing companies in the creative and digital cluster, plus a further 20,000 sq m of speculative office buildings for high tech companies. The second site will improve pedestrian links to the station and city centre and accommodate up to 5,000 sq m of office space; and the third and final site will encompass the land next to the station, replacing the demolished Sheaf House and Dyson House with a further 23,000 sq m of office space.

Outputs
- 3 ha of land redeveloped
- 50,000 sq m of quality commercial floorspace
- 2,300 jobs.

Progress to Date
2006 saw significant progress on Sheffield Digital Campus. The main development agreement between Yorkshire Forward and the developers, Scarborough Development Group Plc and GMI Holdings Ltd (SDG/GMI), was signed and includes obligations to promote the Digital Campus to the target market and draw down plots by agreed milestone dates.

SDG/GMI have secured planning permission and the first phase of development got underway in early 2007. It will include the servicing of the whole of the first site and the construction of the Hub Building, together with the first speculative 5,000 sq m of office accommodation.

The business plan and delivery strategy for the Hub Building have been agreed in principle with all the key stakeholders. The procurement for the operator of the Hub Building was initiated in July 2006 and Creative Space Management were appointed in February 2007. Vacant possession of the Phase 3 site (next to the station) will be obtained in spring 2007 and, subject to approval by the public sector partners, a final scheme for this prominent and important site should be agreed by late summer.
