Additional Projects

Park Hill

The Park Hill project is being taken forward jointly by The Homes and Communities Agency, Sheffield City Council and Transform South Yorkshire. The intention is to regenerate the estate by creating a new sustainable community consisting of a mix of houses and apartments for sale and let, together with commercial space. The facilities, environment and public realm will also see a radical improvement.

The development partners are Registered Social Landlord, the Manchester Methodist Housing Association, and Urban Splash. The project received planning permission in 2006 and the development agreement between English Partnerships, the City Council and Urban Splash was signed in January 2007. Work is currently underway on refurbishing the large block that overlooks Park Square.

North Bank (Central Riverside)

Located in a prime position on one of the main northern gateway routes into Sheffield, next to the IRR and the River Don, the North Bank development will be the first to cross the river and extend the regeneration of the city centre into the Wicker area. A mixed-use project, North Bank combines premium office accommodation, developed by Priority Sites, with a stylish residential element by Artisan. Priority Sites will provide 10,000 sq m of high quality office space in two phases. The first phase of speculative office buildings, comprising 5,682 sq m designed by architects BDP Sheffield, was completed in early 2008. Artisan’s innovative residential scheme, offering 138 contemporary apartments and 342 sq m of retail units was also completed in the same year.

North Bank will be a catalyst for further speculative development and the revitalisation of the Wicker district, as was the completion of the IRR in 2007 which significantly reduced traffic in the area and created a much improved environment. The site’s river frontage will form part of an upgraded Five Weirs Walk, facilitating greater pedestrian access to the river, the opposite bank and into the city centre.
