Views are now being sought on the final draft of the new Sheffield City Centre Masterplan 2008. This follows substantial earlier public consultation on the issues and options for the plan and will be the last stage of consultation before the Masterplan is approved.
The City Masterplan 2008 looks 15 years ahead and builds on the projects which have been progressed as a result of the 2000 Masterplan. The new Masterplan, incorporates these projects and identifies the next key stages of development and transformation of the City Centre.
The new Masterplan is based on the central premise that, in order to increase the scale of economic activity in the City Centre and to accommodate an extended range and mix of uses and activities, it is necessary to extend the central core of the City Centre. It proposes an extension of the business area along an arc connected by key routes from the Wicker/Riverside to The Moor.
Key projects and programmes include:
New Retail Quarter (Sevenstone)
New Business District
Digital Campus (Sheaf Valley)
Riverside Business District
Integrating the Universities
Tudor Square Cultural Quarter
Castlegate/Victoria Quays
City Neighbourhoods
Parks, Open Spaces, Green Networks
Sustainable Sheffield
Moving Sheffield
